The many climbs in GrandPrix Darvastanya didn't give any good ideas for the riders. No riders attacked the entire stage through. When the final climb was near, the strongest riders settled themselves in front of the peloton. farouk took a confident lead, supporting Pier Abbenbroek. The devistating tempo set by farouk crushed rider by rider. When Pier Abbenbroek ran out of supporting riders, he had only 3 other competitors to beat. One of them, Keaton Goshert (Reverion), launched a quick attack and managed to sit alone in the front for a short time. He only had Pier Abbenbroek and Jude Evans (Cremtec) behind him now. Keaton Goshert could not keep the tempo high, and eventually, both Pier Abbenbroek and Jude Evans passed him by. Jude Evans launched the sprint, but Pier Abbenbroek outrunned him and became the winner.
I'm happy the team picked me for the stage. I knew I could win this race and I wanted to prove it as well, said the happy winner who continued with a smile on his face: My preparations were perfect, I had a perfect day, and I won!. Although I've to say i couldn't do this without my teammates!
It's good to see Pier Abbenbroek fulfilling his ambitions winning this stage. He deserves the victory more than anyone else, said the proud manager of Farouk Cycling Team, farouk, and continued: The team was a good support for Pier today, and he clearly proved his worth in the break away today. The season is only 11 days old, and Pier already has 3 results, 2 second places and today the first win for FCT this year.
